The History of Kipling
It is believed that over 40 million people all across the world own a Kipling bag, making it one of the most popular luggage/bag brands in the world.
Considering its mass popularity it is hard to believe that the now iconic brand actually first began life in a tiny Flat in Antwerp. Three fashion enthusiasts were keen to break into the world of fashion, this lead them to designing a collection of trendy fashion bags but for an affordable price.
The first Kipling bags were backpacks aimed at young travellers, due to the popularity of these the decision was made to also focus on other bags.
The Kipling name was inspired by Jungle Book writer Rudyard Kipling who wrote books considered fun and exciting which was exactly what the designers wanted to achieve with their bags. This is also where they got the idea for the now famous Kipling monkey logo which appears on all of their bags and has even been developed into a collectors items in the form of the Kipling furry monkey key-ring that is included with all Kipling purchases.
There are now hundreds of different Kipling bag varieties, meaning that there is a Kipling bag to match everyone’s taste, and suit any occasion.
